How do you like your manager to admonish you in front of other people, I don't think anybody likes that. I like the idea "One Minute Reprimands", from the One Minute Manager, a really good management and leadership book written by Kenneth Blanchard, Ph.D and Spencer Johnson, M.D.
I also like the idea that a manager should reprimand his/her staff inside the manager's room, where nobody is looking. And probably the staff might have something to say too to justify his/her action without embarassing the manager in front of everybody.
OK, so I made a - well I wouldn't consider it a huge mistake, but I have to admit it's my mistake. I forgot, I didn't plan well.
The story was, I was supposed to get two IPs (internal and public) for the Nagios server from the network team. However the procedure was that you need to fill up a form and put in some details like IP Destination, Protocols (for Public IP) etc - which I didn't have the details yet until the next evening when the vendor comes. Unfortunately when the vendor came, it was already too late. Well the rest is history.
To Err Is Human. Fortunately my manager follows the rules of One Minute Reprimand on the part - "Realize that when the reprimand is over, it’s over". So everything went back to normal, and we had a good laugh again.

I also disagree with him.. by right he should be more rational when dealing with his sub-ordinate@team.. cannot simply put the blame to others..
Thanx, fortunately like the One Minute Manager, when it's over, it's really over. Everything is back to normal.
